Microsoft Windows Vista More Mainstream: Report

Windows Vista is making its way into more mainstream U.S. businesses, according to a CDW poll of more than 750 IT decision-makers.

In fact, nearly half of those poll respondents said they were in some phase of testing or implementation of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Findings include:

  • Small companies account for the largest percentage of businesses--53 percent--using or evaluating Vista, followed by 49 percent in higher education and 48 percent of midsize and large businesses.
  • Thirty-five percent of surveyed companies are in the process of actually migrating to Vista, up from 12 percent last February.
  • Close to 50 percent of surveyed companies that are evaluating or using Vista say it’s performing better than they expected on key features, including security and search and organization capabilities.
