ActiveSync, Microsoft's synchronization software for mobile devices, gives iPhone users instant, mobile access to their Outlook email, calendars and contacts through a 128-bit encrypted SSL connection. The monthly subscription service represents a viable option for small companies that can't afford or don't have the expertise to have the messaging and collaboration solution in-house. "Hosted iPhone Exchange services would enable them to gain the advantages, usually reserved for larger firms, of the new iPhone's ActiveSync support," according to Apptix's director of engineering.
