Cisco Systems is absorbing the Linksys Small-Business Channel Partner Program into its own partner program in a move it says will make doing business with SMBs easier for its channel partners.

Cisco's push to bring in 300,000 new small-business accounts. Cisco acquired Linksys five years ago last March.

From a channel standpoint, the move means resellers will have to only join one partner program to have access to Cisco's and Linksys' product portfolios. A more streamlined approach also translates to partners being more efficient in offering total solutions to SMBs because they'll be able to match products from both businesses more easily, according to Cisco. Cisco is integrating Linksys' SMB salesforce with its own for a total of nearly 60,000 SMB-focused channel parters.

The integration, which will be complete by mid-September, is part of Cisco's push to bring in 300,000 new small-business accounts. Cisco acquired Linksys five years ago last March.
