Six months after Lenovo unveiled the ThinkPad X300 laptop, its first challenge to Apple's MacBook Air, expect an ultraportable follow-up from the vendor: the ThinkPad X301.
The new laptop, due out Aug. 26, will come equipped with either an ULV Intel Core 2 Duo U9300 (1.2 GHz) or U9400 (1.4 GHz) processor, support for DDR3 memory, and a standard 64-GB or optional 128-GB solid-state drive. Weighing 3 pounds and measuring 1-inch thick, the ThinkPad X301 also includes a 13.3-inch LED backlit display, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband technologies (Lenovo says WiMax will be added to the list later this year), GPS on models with high-speed mobile broadband, and an improved Access Connections tool to ease setup of Internet and network connections.
The ThinkPad X301 will start at $2,599.
