Midsize Companies Most Worried About Security: Report

Midsize companies are more concerned about information security than they are about reducing business costs, according to new research.
Among midsize companies' top challenges, according to the survey: technology integration, having the resources to implement functionality, user training and lack of local talent.
Nearly 80 percent of the 202 U.S. midsize businesses that participated in an April survey conducted by Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions' midmarket group rated security as a major issue -- ahead of cost reduction (69 percent) and improving customer service (64 percent). In addition, about 54 percent of respondents said they could be on a "level-playing field" with Fortune 500-size companies if they had access to the same technology, and one-third said their IT systems are not up-to-date.
