DEMO Show Targets Smaller Companies
Posted by Fredric Paul Monday, Sep 24, 2007, 12:42 PM ET
The DEMO show is a great place to learn about brand new companies working on new brand new technologies. And this fall a significant number of the announcements are aimed at small and midsize companies.
Officials at DEMOfall07 say 10 of the 72 presentations target small and midsize businesses. Here's a selection of the ones that seemed to have the most promise for bMighty readers:
IdeaBlob.com: Avanta's IdeaBlob is designed to give small business owners "an interactive environment for advice, counsel, and idea exchange." It's social networking and community for small businesses.
AgendiZeMe: This product "brings not only the valuable 'Click to Call' function to everyday bloggers and businesses but expands that little button to transfer information anywhere you need it - cell phone, email address book, and many others."
BatchBook: Contact management for businesses with fewer than 25 employees. BatchBlue Software creates "a base solution - a simple address book interface that can be tagged and categorized - that can then be customized" with custom fields, categories, datasets, and groupings for a variety of business needs.
CashView: "A complete cash management service" designed to bring efficiency and cost savings to small businesses.
DimDim.com: Like WebEx, but open source and cheaper. Free to consumers, in fact.
LongJump: "Zero IT" collaboration and document management for small businesses. Here's the press release.
PlanHQ: Web-based business execution service. "What's on your plate? Are you meeting your milestones? What's your financial outlook?"
Tungle: Lightweight meeting scheduling, base service is free to users.
These products are all still pretty much at the beta stage, but isn't it nice to know that there area startups out there thinking about the needs of small and midsize companies?
