Check Point Pushes Virtualized Browser Protection
Posted by Keith Ferrell Monday, May 19, 2008, 09:58 AM ET
Browser vulnerabilities and threats -- malware, drive-by downloads, etc. -- is fast becoming the new security battleground. A new Check Point Technologies release promises that this will be a new security products battleground too.
As picked up by the bMighty Antenna, the security firm's approach adds a layer of virtualized security that surrounds the user's Web session.
And just the Web session -- ForceField, according to Check Point, addresses only those aspects of the user's machine that interact with the Web, not the entire operating system.
The product, ZoneAlerm ForceField, which has been in public beta since September, is priced for consumers -- $29.95 single user; $49.95 for three users -- which should make it appealing to small business and remote locations.
