Web-Based Project Management With Workamajig

Posted by Alan Zeichick Tuesday, Oct 7, 2008, 07:42 AM ET

In the Windows world, the dominant project management software is Microsoft Project. It's relatively easy to use, fairly inexpensive, and very ubiquitous. On the Mac, there's never been a category-killing project management tool. The folks at Creative Manager, though, think they've got the winner.

The Web-based Workajig application — which used to be called Creative Manager Pro until this past January — has been around since 2003. Focusing initially on the advertising and art markets (thus the "creative" part of the original name), the software has continued evolving in lockstep with Mac OS X.

Since August, Workamajig has embraced Flash-based drag-and-drop capabilities, with a drag-and-drop calendar, Gantt charts, and so-on. (Gantt charts are a graphical way to show dependencies in a complex, multi-step process.)

While the software is still designed around the needs of advertising agencies, Workamajig can be used for general project management as well. Check it out!
