No surprise: In a report of IT predictions, Forrester Research says that the iPhone is going to do well over the next year. However, the shock is exactly how good Forrester analyst Michele Pelino thinks that the iPhone will fare in the next year — and how much impact its touch-screen competitors will have.

In her new report, "Predictions 2009: What's In Store for Enterprise Mobility," analyst Michele Pelino says, "we will see growth in the mobile "wannabe" user segment as employees bring their personal devices, such as the iPhone, into work and expect organizations to develop ways to support these new devices — even with the slowdown expected in consumer mobile device purchases."

To put a number behind it, Pelino predicts that by the end of 2009, the iPhone will reach 10% of small and mid-size businesses.

What about competitors? Look to BlackBerry, she told eWeek reporter Clint Boulton, and don't worry about Google's Android operating system, which appeared in the T-Mobile G1 phone in October. "[The G1] has not been on the radar screen in the inquiries I'm getting. I'll curious to see the results from our survey in Q1 in SMBs and large enterprises to see where the G1 comes out," she told Boulton.
