Apple Releases Safari 4 Beta

Apple today released Safari 4 beta as a free download. Check out the new features of the "world's fastest browser" and see if they're ideal for your business. The big question will be: Has Apple fixed Safari's incompatibilities?

Safari 4 beta is now available as a free download. And you don't have to be a Mac devotee to run it -- Safari can run on a Mac, a PC, an iPhone, or an iPod touch.

The question will be once users start playing around with Safari 4 beta: Has Apple fixed Safari's incompatibilities as well as its stability issues?

Apple is touting Safari 4's faster browser, improved navigation and search, and 150 features. Among the new features are:

  • Accessible Rich Interactive Applications (ARIA) support

  • Full-page zoom

  • Speculative loading

  • CSS effects

  • CSS canvas

  • HTML 5 offline support

  • Acid 3 compliance

  • Nitro JavaScript engine

  • History view

  • Top sites

  • Tabs on top

  • Smart search field

  • Full history search

  • Windows native look

  • Windows font rendering

  • A handful of developer tools
