Oracle Accelerate Adds MidMarket BI, CRM On Demand, And More
Posted by Fredric Paul Tuesday, Sep 22, 2009, 07:26 PM ET
Oracle Accelerate, the company's 3-year-old effort to address midsize companies, has extended its tool set to include Demantra for advanced demand planning, Agile for product lifecycle management, Siebel CRM, and Transportation Management. And the apps will now be available via SaaS as well.
Apart from the Transportation Management solution, the new products represent an expansion of Oracle Accelerate's previous focus on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions tailored for specific vertical markets.
"With ERP, we go very vertical" with 80 sub-segments, said Mark Johnson, Vice President of Oracle Accelerate applications marketing and business development. With Demantra, Agile and Siebel CRM, Johnson said, "we've made some modifications of that prograem to accommodate more horizontal solutions. For example, Oracle's Hyperion is truly horizontal business intelligence product, Johnson said.
Nevertheless, the preponderance of Oracle Acclerate sales remains in "very deep vertical solutions" Johnson said. For sales to customers smaller than $100 million are always led by partners, Johnson added, who provide "true rapid implementation" and the "deep industry expertise" that adds value to the technology.
Sales to larger customers, with revenue from $100 million to $500 million, are often handled in conjunction with Oracle itself, he added, although 90% of the implementations are done by the partners.
To help midsize companies find the right one of the more than 300 partners in the Oracle Accelerate program, the company has launched Midsize.Oracle.com, a new portal designed to make it easy to find the partner with the technology you need and the right vertical markets -- in your part of the world. It offers a "browse-level" experience, Johnson explained, without having to go 8-10 clicks deep into the Oracle Web site.

Midsize.Oracle.com offers home-page access to a partner-matching tool.
Oracle also said that Accelerate deployment options now include hosting by Oracle On Demand and third-party hosting in addition to on-premise hosting.
