HyperOffice Releases Beta Of New Software-with-Services Business Suite For SMBs

Posted by Fredric Paul Tuesday, Dec 15, 2009, 12:20 PM ET

Designed for organizations with between 5 and 100 users, the new version of 10-year-old HyperOffice adds interface enhancements, "push" e-mail support, and an online relational database.

Farzin Arsanjani, president of HyperOffice, said that many small companies "need more than just software. In essence, you become the IT department" because these companies have not itme to build an IT infrastructure on their own.

Arsanjani describes HyperOffice as an "Exchange and Sharepoint" alternative, all in one. The product includes shared calendars and contacts, e-mail, document and project management, Web conferencing, databases and Web forms; forums, polls and wikis; project and task portals, Intranets and Extranets; user rights, versioning, commenting, and backup.

The new e-mail capability includes push capabilities to mobile devices, with bidirectional synching for PCs and Macs, iPhones, Blackberrys and Windows Mobile based devices. It's joined by Hyperbase, which includes "most features SMBs need, Arsanjani says, along with a suite of complementary services.
According to Arsanjani, it competes with various parts of products from Microsoft, Google, IBM, Cisco (Web Office) and other vendors. But these “point” products make SMBs manage multiple vendor relationships and waste time doing double entry, Arsanjani claims, while HyperOffice is an integrated solution.

General availability for the core HyperOffice s scheduled for the end of the year, Arsanjani says, with HyperSynch and HyberBase due in the first quarter of 2010.

Pricing is approximately $7 - $8 per user per month, and includes free support and training, Arsanjani says. He added that users can choose to remain with HyperOffice's existing "classic" version if desired.
