Whatever Google touches turns to gold -- that may have been true at one point, but you can see some chinks in the armor. Mostly recently, an outage for Google Docs & Spreadsheets -- to be fair, we're not talking a Twitter-level outage here. As the most public promoter of cloud computing, Google steps up by setting the bar for using, storing, sharing, and accessing online apps and files. Though the three apps lack the feature-depth of MS Office, most of the important features are there and the ease of sharing and integrating may trump the bells and whistles -- especially for project teams or ah hoc use. The question for businesses, as with other online productivity suites, is about reliability, longevity, and management.
