CES 2009: 8 Products For Your Business

Palm Pre

The announcement of the Palm Pre smartphone was perhaps the most anticipated -- and most appreciated -- announcement at CES this year. It's not just a clever, well-designed new phone and operating system, it's also a clear signal that Palm is back in the game, this time armed with Linux.

While Palm has fallen on hard times lately as the BlackBerry and the iPhone have dominated the smartphone conversation, many technophiles (and many small business folks) harbor lingering affection for their Palm Pilots.

But the Pre is much more than an exercise in techie nostalgia. Its slick melding of a big, beautiful touch screen with a real slide-out keyboard could make it the best of both the iPhone and BlackBerry worlds. The only downside, at least for long-time Palm holdouts, is that it won't run all those legacy Palm applications.
