How To Assess Your Server Needs

Server Selection Tools

HP Server Buying Guide
This guide links you to a suggested solution based on your chosen application, operating system, configuration, and number of users.

IBM Systems Advisor Tool
This tool provides multiple suggestions (and even informs you if IBM does not have a product suited to your needs) based on a series of query screens asking about the nature of the application, number of users, desired data storage capacity, desired operating system, and desired configuration.

Dell Small Business Server Advisor
This query system asks about intended use, number of users, anticipated growth, and desirable special features, such as remote management and configuration.

Sun "Find A Server"
This screen lets you sort the Sun server line according to criteria you input, such as price range, operating system, number of cores, disk type, general application type, and I/O options. Each time you choose a criterion, the screen refreshes with an option that lets you select a range for that criterion. Then you can add a second criterion and range, etc. With each selection, the servers shown on the page change to fit your specifications.
