Integrating Your Cloud And On-Premises Applications

3 Cloud Integration Vendors

Need to integrate some combination of SaaS and/or on-premises applications? These three vendors can help:

Founded in 2000, Boomi's approach to integration uses Atom -- its lightweight, autonomous agent that runs locally -- to send data outside the firewall via a secure HTTP pipe to Boomi On Demand, a hosted service compatible with hundreds of SaaSes, as well as on-premises applications, including NetSuite, Oracle, Peachtree, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, and SAP.

Founded in 2001, Cast Iron offers two integration options -- Cast Iron Cloud providing integration as a service and as an on-premises appliance -- to facilitate on-premises, B-to-B (including EDI), and SaaS integrations. Which approach is best for which situation? Cast Iron says a business needing to integrate one SaaS application and seven on-premises applications would likely select its appliance. Reverse the scenario, however, and you have a good case for the integration as a service option. Cast Iron works with numerous SaaS vendors, including Salesforce and RightNow, as well as such on-premises software as Lawson, Oracle, and SAP.

Founded in 2006, SnapLogic offers an open-source data integration framework that runs on premises to facilitate on-premises integration, plus "solution packs" that connect with such SaaS offerings as Amazon's EC2, Salesforce, and SugarCRM.
